I arrived at Edale the afternoon prior to the day of commencing the big walk.
This gives time for last minute preparation and to, generally sort your self's out for the big walk ahead, It also gives you the opportunity of meeting other walkers whom you are sure to encounter during the days ahead.
Campsite:Attractive

EDALE TO Hayfield to CROWDEN
Distance
15 miles
Climb Kinder Scout 2088ft1636.42m. by way of the Grindsbrook Valley. Cross the peat covered plateau via Mill Hill to the Snake Pass, continue across the plateau to Bleaklow Head and then descend alongside Torside Clough to Crowden to the second campsite.
On our attempt we had a very bad first day with very wet weather and 46mph winds over Kinder Plateau and totally missed the path to Mill Hill and walked a extra 5 or so miles, the rain was coming down so hard it hurt like hell on your face, Gore-Tex leaked like a siv, so ended up going down to Hayfield to B+B the George Inn to asses the damage and spend the night, The tent was wet in and out, even through it had been it three bags it was drenched so was every thing else, the room turned into a drying room.
But we were refreshed after a nice Jacuzzi Bath
Campsite: Good facilities Midges can be a problem, also the ducks that try and eat your food.
